Local History Room staff have collected newspaper clippings and miscellaneous ephemera on various subjects regarding Barberton history and nearby history for over 30 years. These materials have been organized and stored by subject in folders in a vertical file. This collection continues to evolve as new materials are added. Included are materials on the Portage Path used by native Americans traveling between the Cuyahoga and Tuscarawas Rivers, the Peter Jones sculptures of native Americans marking the Portage Path terminus, as well as the 50 bronze arrowahead / bronze blade sculptures installed throught the area, the survey of the Portage Path, pre-European native trails and towns, a list of local achaeological sites |
